2012 PIEDMONT SALONE DEL GUSTO & WINE-COUNTRY TASTING TOUR

In celebration of the 2012 Salone del Gusto and Terra Madre in Turin, Villa Sampaguita is offering a Piedmont tasting tour with accommodation at our beautiful bed and breakfast just outside Asti in the heart of the wine region and 40 minutes drive to Turin Lingotto Fair.

The tour includes visits to Salone del Gusto and Turin and the Piedmont wine country including Barolo area, sampling some of Italy’s finest wines and cuisine including a truffle hunt and a visit to the Alba truffle fair.

Wednesday 24 October Benvenuti	Pickup from airport or train station. Welcome dinner at beautiful Villa Sampaguita and meet your hosts Tim Brewer and Rina Vargas with a pre-dinner tasting and an introduction to some of the lesser-known wines of Piedmont
Thursday 25 October Torino Salone Del Gusto	Leave at 9.30 for Turin. Your Driver will drop you at Lingotto for a day of browsing the Salone del Gusto food hall or taking in taste workshops. Pickup at 6 pm and return to Villa Sampaguita. Dinner at Osterie Pompa Magna in Asti.
Friday 26 October Barolo The king of wines and the wine of kings	Leave at 9.30 am; first stop Borgogno winery in Barolo for a cellar tasting tour, followed by lunch at Osterie Vignaiolo near La Morra. Then a visit to nearby Erbaluna (organic) winery and a tour of the Barolo wine area and a visit to Barbaresco (if time permits) and back to Villa Sampaguita for supper
Saturday 27 October Turin Italy’s Best Kept Secret	Free day in Turin for Salone del Gusto or site seeing. Leave around 9.30 am and drive to Turin, the old royal capital of Piedmont and Italy, with its baroque piazze and many palaces. First stop at the Superga, overlooking the Po river, Turin and the Alps. Your driver will take you to Salone del Gusto or Eataly for food browsing and lunch or drop you in the centre of the old town for shopping or checking out the many museums and galleries. Pickup at 6 pm and return to Villa Sampaguita. Dinner at Angolo Beato in Asti
Sunday 28 October Tartufo Bianco Truffle hunt and Alba truffle fair.	9.30 am departure. First stop Costigliole for a (white) truffle hunt at La Casa del Trifalau. Then off to Alba for lunch and the Alba Truffle fair. Supper at Villa Sampaguita (bring your own truffles)
Monday 29th October Turin Salone Del Gusto	Last day of Salone Del Gusto. Leave at 9.30 for Turin. Your driver will drop you at Lingotto for a day of browsing the Salone del Gusto food hall or taking in taste workshops. Pickup at 6 pm and return to Villa Sampaguita for Farewell Dinner.
Tuesday 30th October Arrivedeci	We transport you to the airport or train station.

Tour includes: Pickup at train station or airport, stay at Villa Sampaguita B&B with dinner (unless noted); mini-bus to Turin and wine country; tickets for Salone del gusto; wine tasting; truffle hunt.

Taste workshops should be booked directly with Salone del Gusto 2012

Please contact us for tour prices, we can accomodate up to a maximum of 14 people.

Of course you may stay at Villa Sampaguita during the festival week without taking the tour, and depending on space you may join selected parts. However we can only accept bookings for the entire period 24th to 30th October
